Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 55166

This specimen was lot 55166 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Krone (4 Mark), 1682. Gluckstadt Mint. Christian V. PCGS EF-40. From the Collection of Richard Evans Norton (1872-1946)." Danish crowns of the seventeenth century range from the scarce to the obscenely rare. This four mark was struck 1671-73, 1677-82 and is fairly available. Dav-3637, a krone of the same weight and fineness, was struck 1681-82.
