Sincona sale 63, lot 166

This specimen was lot 166 in Sincona sale 63 (Zurich, June 2020), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,065 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA | Volksrepublik, 100 Yuan 1988. Schwerttänzerin. Nur 5'500 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. (peoples republic of China, one hundred yuan of 1988, rhythmic gymnastics. Only 5'500 pieces minted, Choice Proof.)" Rhythmic gymastics, added as an Olympic sport in 1984, combines elements of gymnastics with dance.

Recorded mintage: 5,500 proofs.
