Künker sale 263, lot 1387
Stolberg in 1789, with Wernigerode to the northwest near Halberstadt

This specimen was lot 1387 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,617 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STOLBERG-STOLBERG UND STOLBERG-ROSSLA, GRAFSCHAFTEN (DIE JÜNGERE STOLBERGER HAUPTLINIE AUS DER TEILUNG VON 1645) Christof Friedrich zu Stolberg-Stolberg und Jost Christian zu Stolberg-Rossla, 1704-1738. Reichstaler 1717, Stolberg, auf die 200-Jahrfeier der Reformation. Ausbeute der Stolberger Gruben. RR Feine Patina, min. berieben, sonst sehr schön +. (counties of Stolberg-Stolberg and Stolberg-Rossla, joint issue, thaler of 1717, Stolberg mint, on the bicentennial of the reformation, for the Stolberg mines. Rare, toned, polished, otherwise nice very fine.)"
