Künker sale 294, lot 3716

This specimen was lot 3716 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €900 (about US$1,213 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NÜRNBERG, STADT, Dukat 1717, auf die 200-Jahrfeier der Reformation. GOLD. Vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Nuremberg, ducat of 1717, on the bicentennial of the Reformation, extremely fine.)"

This type is not listed in the SCWC, perhaps dismissed by them as a medal. Medal or not, we are sure it was used to make the rent more than once.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3,43 g.

Catalog reference: Fr-1902 a; Kellner -; Slg. Whiting 223; Slg. Erlanger 2333; Brozatus 912.
