Nurnberg 1711 thaler rev H3032-31577.jpg

This specimen was lot 31577 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $1,028.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nurnberg. Free City Taler 1711-GFN, about XF, some minimal file marks on rim. Portrait and title of Emperor Karl VI, reverse city view. A scarcer Taler type and quite attractive." Nuremberg issued thalers only erratically in the first part of the eighteenth century and this one year type is scarce, verging on rare. The city was annexed to Bavaria in 1806.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-2475, KM 275.
