Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 41388

This specimen was lot 41388 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 4 Mariengroschen, 1776-LCR. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg III (George III of Great Britain). PCGS MS-63. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." The four mariengroschen was one ninth of a thaler or one quarter gulden. This type was struck 1762-86 and is common.
