This specimen was lot 41389 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 2 Mariengroschen, 1776-LCR. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg III (George III of Great Britain). PCGS MS-62. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." The two mariengroschen was one eighteenth of a thaler or one twelfth of a gulden. It was the smallest denomination struck in good silver. This type was struck 1763-85 and is common.
