This specimen was lot 32889 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $540. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nürnberg. Free City gold 1/4 Ducat Klippe ND (1700)-GFN MS65 NGC. Paschal lamb is portrayed. A stunning small gold coin with every detail of the lamb's fleece sharply defined." This type was struck starting in 1700 and tho not cheap, is more available than other Nurnberger ducats of the eighteenth century. Fractional ducats including 1/2, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32 were also issued. This German type frequently appears in choice uncirculated, adding to its popularity.
