Ponterio sale 159, lot 9190

Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Hermosillo is fairly common for the mint tho priced double a common Guanajuato issue. This specimen was lot 9190 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $1,725. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Hermosillo. 50 Centavos, 1877-HoF. Rare mint in high grade. Nice strike, light toning. NGC MS-63.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
