Sincona sale 84, lot 121

This specimen was lot 121 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 50 CHF (about US$67 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 20 Kopecks 1772, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB. 1 rouble according to Petrov. Very fine. [Ob]vers[e] slightly off-centered."

This type was issued from St. Petersburg (shown here) and Moscow 1764-96, after which the denomination was suspended for many years. This subtype is listed for 1766-76.

Recorded mintage: 870,000.

Specification: 4.77 g, 0.750 fine silver, this specimen 4.87 g.
