Russia 1772-SP 5 rubles Fr-130a
This specimen was lot 20498 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $5,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Rubles, 1772-CNB. St. Petersburg Mint. Catherine II (the Great). PCGS AU-50 Gold Shield. Overall, a lightly circulated example of this type, offering a golden-orange tone that takes on an even deeper allure as it accentuates the legends. Not often encountered this pleasing and problem-free and, rather unsurprisingly, this specimen is at the top of the PCGS census for the date. From the Naples Bay Collection." This five rubles, tho less rare than those of Elizabeth, is still plenty expensive. It is listed for 1766-77.
