Sincona sale 65, lot 100

This specimen was lot 100 in Sincona sale 65 (Zürich, October 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Polushka 1772, Ekaterinburg Mint, EM. Rare date. Very fine. (Полушка 1772, Екатеринбургский МД, ЕМ. 2,21 г. Биткин 752. Редкая дата. Состояние очень хорошее.)"

This type was struck at Ekaterinburg 1766-76, 1786-90 and 1794-96. This type was also struck at Suzun (KM) and Anninskoye (no mintmark) but those issues are much scarcer. The 1772 is not listed as rare in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.60 g, copper, 20 mm diameter; this specimen 2.21 g.
