Sincona sale 63, lot 1613

This specimen was lot 1613 in Sincona sale 63 (Zurich, June 2020), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$501 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Joseph II. 1765-1790. Dukat 1789 B, Kremnitz. Gutes sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, ducat of 1789, Kremnitz mint. Good very fine.)"

This type was struck 1780-90 at Vienna (A), Kremnitz (B, shown here), Karlsburg (E), Hall (F) and Nagybanya (G). Friedberg lists this date under Hungary but the design is strictly Austrian.

Recorded mintage: 205,000.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.47 g.
