The specimen shown is an 1886Pi-LC eight reales from the San Luis Potosi mint, which struck the type 1827-93. The San Luis Potosi mint closed in 1893, having struck most of the silver and copper denominations but never issued gold. The SCWC lists assayers LC and MR, both common. This specimen was lot 6452 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $126.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Potosi. 8 Reales, 1886-LC. Dipped. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED."

Recorded mintage: 3,347,000 (both assayers).

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
