Westfriesland 1759 ducaton Dav-1834
This specimen was lot 10575 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $499. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. West Freisland. Ducation, 1759. PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder. Toned, lustrous." This type was issued in various forms throughout the eighteenth century until 1793, when revolutionary French armies occupied the United Provinces and terminated their independence.
