This specimen was lot 75400 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. West Friesland. Ducaton (Silver Rider), 1754. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. Once cleaned but now pleasingly toned over. An impressive large silver issue with intricate details adorning each side." This type was issued in various forms throughout the eighteenth century until 1793, when revolutionary French armies occupied the United Provinces and terminated their independence.
Recorded mintage: 250,227 for 1751-54.
