Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 25096
SB0123-25096r.jpg

This specimen was lot 25096 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $2,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 2 Talers, 1664-HS. Goslar Mint. August "the Younger". NGC EF-45. An entirely pleasing example of this broad flaned issue, this exceedingly handsome piece delivers a full strike and even wear on the high portions of the design. Deeply toned and escaping rough marking, this piece is certain to capture much attention from the many specialists in the series. From the Augustana Collection." A sesquithaler (Dav-LS77) was also issued on this occasion.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 57.4 g, silver, 62 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Dav-LS76; KM-451.4.
