CNG Lissner sale, lot 550

This specimen was lot 550 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $968. The catalog description^[1] noted, "ITALY, Regno d'Italia (Napoleonic). Napoleon I. 1805-1814. CU Soldo. Milano (Milan) mint; differenti: pomegranate and inverted cup. Luigi Manfredini, engraver general. Dated 1813 M. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64 BN. Light even brown with a few hints of red. None graded higher for the date or type. Last year of type. Purchased from Nona Moore, May 1972." This coin was struck in Milan for Napoleon's kingdom of Italy which lasted 1804-1814. The soldo, equal to five centesimi, was struck in some numbers 1807-13 at Milan, Venice and Bologna. This specimen sold for nine times the catalog value.
