Stack's Bowers 2024 NYINC sale, lot 57367

This specimen was lot 57367 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Papal (States of the Church). Testone, 1736 Year VI. Clement XII. PCGS AU-58." Berman notes that St. Andrew Corsini, depicted on the reverse, came from the same family as Clement XII. This type was struck years V and VI and is rather scarce. At least eight other types of testone are recorded for 1736, all scarce.

Specification: 7.95 g, 0.917 fine silver.
