This specimen was lot 74628 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 12 Mariengroschen, 1714. Zellerfeld Mint; mm: crossed axes between HH. Anton Ulrich. PCGS MS-63. Handsomely toned and very well struck, this Choice specimen dazzles with some golden-olive toning accentuating the devices and with ample luster remaining around the legends. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Includes ticket from Muenzen und Medaillen Basel." This denomination was one half gulden or one third of a thaler. This type was struck 1711-14 and is common. Mintmaster HH appears 1711-19. The concurrent "leaping stallion" coin of the same weight was a one-third thaler.
