Künker sale 386, lot 5069

This specimen was lot 5069 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €320 (about US$414 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Karl I. 1735-1780. 2/3 Taler 1740, Braunschweig. Feine Patina, leichter Doppelschlag, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles I, 1735-80, two-thirds thaler of 1740, Brunswick mint. Fine patina, lightly double struck, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This gulden was struck 1736-37 and 1740. It comes with (shown here) or without (KM 898) the value below the stallion. Both are scarce.

Specification: silver, this specimen 13.33 g, the weight of 4/9 thaler.
