SB1122-73035r.jpg

This specimen was lot 73035 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. Real, 1820-M GJ. Madrid Mint. Ferdinand VII. NGC MS-63. VERY RARE at this lofty state of preservation and the finest encapsulated by NGC. Otherwise brilliant surfaces reveal tinges of russet and mottled azure when dipped into a light. An excellent strike with all design elements boldly to sharply rendered, and blazing, highly consistent dished luster across both faces." This type was struck at Madrid 1815-20 and 1824-33.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a fairly common date.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.812 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Cayón-15339, KM-462.3; Cal-589.
