This specimen was lot 3907 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €300 (about US$418 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm II. 1786-1797. 1/3 Reichstaler preuß. 1790, B, Breslau. Äußerst seltener Jahrgang. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Erworben im November 2000. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William II, 1786-97, one third thaler of 1790, Breslau mint. Extremely rare date, very fine to extremely fine.)"
The 1/12 thaler was retired in 1772 and the 1/6 thaler was retired in 1778 but this denomination carried on to the end of the century. One third thaler was half a gulden. This type was struck 1786-98 at Berlin, Breslau and Konigsberg.
Recorded mintage: 49,761, a common date per the SCWC.
Specification: 8.35 g, 0.666 fine silver, this specimen 8.28 g.
