Sincona sale 11, lot 1023

This specimen was lot 1023 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$743 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Württemberg, Königreich Wilhelm I. 1816-1864. Kronentaler 1818, Stuttgart. Etwas rauer Schrötling. Fast vorzüg­lich-vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Württemberg, William I, 1816-64, crown thaler of 1818, Stuttgart mint. Slightly porous, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1818 only along with a convention thaler (Dav-946). Both are scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 29.49 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 29.38 g.
