Steve Album sale 51, lot 1012

This specimen was lot 1012 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $420. The catalog description[1] noted, "WÜRTTEMBERG: Wilhelm I, 1816-1864, AR 2 thaler, 1855, a nice example with pleasant luster under some old toning, VF-XF, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This double thaler of 1840-43 and 1854-55 is rather expensive. A double thaler issued for the inauguration of Ulm cathedral in 1871 ended the series.

Recorded mintage: 168,352 for 1854-55.

Specifications: 37.12 g, 0.900 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-586, Dav-956.
