Morton & Eden sale 104, lot 662

This specimen was lot 662 in Morton & Eden sale 104 (London, November 2019), where it sold for £5,250 (about US$8,131 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Decimal Coinage, 10 pesos, Oaxaca mint, 1881 E, choice mint state, with original mint lustre and light toning, very rare thus. Ex Jess Peters auction, April 1977. NGC holder graded MS 63+." This is a better year for this somewhat common mint.

Recorded mintage: 961.

Specification: 16.92 g, 0.875 fine gold, .476 troy oz AGW.
