This specimen was lot 74029 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $528. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1696. William III. NGC MS-62. A pleasing and quite presentable Shilling, with bright luster in the fields and colorful, dark peripheral toning." This type was struck 1695-97 with numerous mintmarks under the great recoinage supervised by Isaac Newton which finally retired all the hammered coinage dating from before the Civil War.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.02 g, 0.925 fine silver.
