This specimen was lot 72341 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1696-B. Bristol Mint. William III. PCGS AU-55. First bust. An appealing branch mint issue, this near-Mint minor offers a rather deep tone with some delightful luster remaining in the protected areas. A few adjustment marks are noted merely for completeness." This type of 1696-97 was issued from many branch mints. This specimen comes from Bristol.
