This type was struck in Utrecht and Brussels 1817-37 for William I. The 1821-B is rare. After Belgium obtained her independence in 1830, the Brussels mint continued striking for the new country while the Utrecht mint operates to this day for the Dutch government. This specimen was lot 1058 in Jean Elsen sale 121 (Brussels, June 2014), where it sold for €210 (about US$336 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume des Pays-Bas, Guillaume Ier (1815-1830), Cu 1 cent, 1821 B, Bruxelles. Très Rare. Beau. (Belgium, kingdom of the Netherlands, William I (1815-30), copper one cent of 1821, Brussels mint. Very rare, fine.)"

Recorded mintage: 113,132.

Specification: 3.84 g, copper, 22 mm diameter.
