Stack's Bowers November 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73902
SB1123-73902r.jpg

This specimen was lot 73902 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Trade Tokens. Sussex. Chichester. Copper 1/2 Penny Token, 1794. PCGS MS-64 Brown. Exquisitely smooth chocolate-brown surfaces grace this near-Gem Conder token that depicts the half-length bust of Elizabeth I, with ample satiny luster retained throughout the fields. We note that the only other example of the type that we are able to recall offering, also a PCGS MS-64 Brown, realized $960 including buyer's premium in our January 2022 NYINC Auction (Lot 7390)."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: copper.

Catalog reference: D&H-15.
