This specimen was lot 1688 in Sincona sale 47 (Zurich, May 2018), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$330 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[2]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''FRANKREICH, I. Kaiserreich. Napoleon I. 1804-1815. 1 Franc 1813 CL, Genua. Schön.'' ([[France]], First Empire, Napoleon I, 1804-15, one franc of 1813, Genoa mint. Fine.)"</blockquote> In 1806 the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed. This type is the last and probably the most available Napoleonic franc. It was demonetized in 1869. A complete set of this type comprises 74 date and mintmark combinations, many very rare. This coin is an issue of the Genoa mint which operated as a French branch mint 1813-14 only, striking half, one, two, five, [[France 1813-CL 20 francs|twenty]] and [[France 1813-CL 40 francs|forty franc]] pieces, all rare.

The first specimen was lot 24549 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "Napoleon 5 Francs 1813-A, MS61 NGC, a nice lustrous example with faint adjustment marks on the bust. Scarce type in mint state."
