This specimen was lot 1269 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$2,155 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Reza Shah, 1304-1320 SH (1925-1941). 2 Pahlavi 1306 SH (1927 AD), Tehran Mint. NGC MS63. Magnificent condition. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 297."
After Reza Pahlavi overthrew the Qajars and seized the throne for himself, he continued the old denominations for several years, substituting his name and adopting a new dating system. The SH calendar is a solar version of the Hegira calendar which, being lunar based, starts on a different date each year. This is one of the first of the new coinage and was struck SH 1306-1308. The pahlavi was lated increased in weight to match the British sovereign.
