The first specimen was lot 3950 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Hessen, Grossherzogtum Münzstätte Darmstadt bis 1880, danach Berlin Ernst Ludwig, 1892-1918. 2 Mark 1904. Zum 400. Geburtstag Philipps des Grossmütigen. FDC. Mattiert/Polierte Platte. (Grand duchy of Hesse, Ernest Louis, 1892-1918, two mark of 1904, Berlin mint, on the 400th birtday of Philip the Magnanimous, proof.)"
