Künker sale 336, lot 6992

This specimen was lot 6992 in Künker sale 336 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €200 (about US$262 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"GERMAN COINS SINCE 1871, REICHSSILBERMÜNZEN, SACHSEN, Georg, 1902-1904. 2 Mark 1904. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Saxony, George, 1902-04, two mark of 1904. Handsome patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was issued 1903-04 in large numbers and is not rare, but the two mark issued on the death of the king (KM 1261) is more available.

Recorded mintage: 1,265,533 plus proofs.

Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, 28 mm diameter.
