This specimen was lot 4716 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $345. The catalog description [2] noted, "German States - Bremen. 2 Mark, 1904-J. Choice silvery white example. NGC graded MS-67." The free city of Bremen, long a rival to Hamburg, struck few coins under the Empire (1871-1918). These are limited to this two mark, a five mark of 1906, a twenty mark of 1906 and a ten mark of 1907.
Recorded mintage: 100,000 plus 200 proofs.
Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, 28 mm diameter.
