Sincona sale 84, lot 272

This specimen was lot 272 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 20 Kopecks 1827, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NG. Very fine-extremely fine."

This type was struck 1826-31 and is fairly common. It superseded a design which showed the eagle's wings up.

Recorded mintage: 465,000, a better date.

Specification: 4.14 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 4.21 g.
