This specimen was lot 51414 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $4,080. The catalog description[1] noted,

"CHINA. 100 Yuan, 1994. Unicorn Series. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. 1 Ounce Gold. A brilliant and attractive Proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices. Includes original case of issue and certificate of authenticity."

This NCLT inaugurated another long-running series of commemoratives in addition to the panda and Chinese zodiac programs already in progress.

Recorded mintage: 1,100.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 1 troy oz AGW.
