Stack's Bowers April 2021 Hong Kong sale, lot 51385

This specimen was lot 51385 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted,

"CHINA. 50 Yuan, 2000. Panda Series. NGC MS-69. Frosted Ring variety. On the cusp of perfection with no toning spots or haze over the surfaces."

In 2001, the half ounce gold panda was raised from fifty yuan to 200 yuan.

Recorded mintage: 20,811 (mirror + frosted).

Specification: 15.55 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.500 troy oz AGW.
