This specimen was lot 70396 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 10 Yuan, 2000. Lunar Series, Year of the Dragon. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Scalloped edge. Brilliant with hard mirror fields and frosted devices. No spots, tone or fog." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. This Year of the Dragon issue was accompanied by a silver ten yuan struck in the shape of a fan (KM 1321).
