China 2000 10 yuan KM-1325

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70396

This specimen was lot 70396 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $288. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CHINA. 10 Yuan, 2000. Lunar Series, Year of the Dragon. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Scalloped edge. Brilliant with hard mirror fields and frosted devices. No spots, tone or fog." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. This Year of the Dragon issue was accompanied by a silver ten yuan struck in the shape of a fan (KM 1321).
