This specimen was struck for China 1999-2003. A jiao (or "hou" in Cantonese) is ten fen or one tenth of a yuan. Today (July 2024), US$1 = 7.27 yuan, making this coin worth about 1.4¢, if it has not been demonetized. An orchid adorns the reverse.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 1.12 g, aluminum, 19 mm diameter, plain edge.
