This specimen was lot 34534 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $210. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 10 Yuan, 2001. Lunar Series, Year of the Snake. PCGS PROOF-69 DEEP CAMEO Secure Holder. Scalloped edge." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more.
Recorded mintage: 66,000 business strikes, 6,900 proofs and 6,800 multicolored.
