The first specimen was lot 11266 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $431. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1832-ZsOM. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Dove gray tone. Attractive early date. Nice strike." Assayer OM is recorded for 1830-55; four reales were struck at Zacatecas 1830-70. Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Zacatecas is tied with Guanajuato as the commonest mint. This particular date is slightly scarce.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .392 troy oz ASW.
Catalog reference: KM 375.9.
