Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Durango is scarce, priced in the SCWC at three times a common Guanajuato date. This specimen was lot 9168 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Durango. 50 Centavos, 1877-DoP. Weakly struck. NGC MS-60.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 2,000.
