This specimen was lot 33765 in Heritage sale 3098 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Charles I Crown ND (1638-1639) VF25 NGC, Tower mint, Anchor mm. Bold in the legends and to the reverse, the surfaces blanketed in an age-old patina revealing scattered underlying golden iridescence. A very fine scratch is noted in the obverse center for accuracy, though is of minimal consequence. Sold with previous Michael S. Tallent Collection lot tag. Ex. Michael S. Tallent Collection (Stack's April 2008, Lot 68); Purchased from Martin Cooke in March 2005." The silver crowns of Charles I come in many varieties, all rare. This one has the garnished oval arms of Britain with no cross or plume behind the arms. England and France are in quadrants 1 and 4, Scotland is in quadrant 2 and Ireland in quadrant 3.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 30.10 g, 0.925 fine silver, this specimen 29.82 g.
