This specimen was lot 33766 in Heritage sale 3098 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Charles I Crown ND (1640-1641) F15 NGC, Tower mint (under Charles I), Star mm. Always a pleasure to handle Crowns of Charles I in the waning days of hammered coinage in Britain, showcasing an expansive battleship gray planchet with an interesting star-in-circle mintmark. An honestly worn survivor of the series. Ex. Michael S. Tallent Collection (Stack's April 2008, Lot 71); Purchased from Martin Cooke in July 2005." The silver crowns of Charles I come in many varieties, all rare. This one has the garnished oval arms of Britain with no cross or plume behind the arms. England and France are in quadrants 1 and 4, Scotland is in quadrant 2 and Ireland in quadrant 3.
