The first specimen was lot 3705 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $142.80. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA: Republic, AR 4 soles, 1856-PTS, assayer FJ, PCGS graded MS62." The second specimen was lot 23227 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[2] noted, "BOLIVIA. 4 Soles, 1856-PTS FJ. Potosi Mint. NGC MS-62. Pleasingly toned and with a good deal of lustrous brilliance remaining, this near-choice example offers great eye appeal and a solid strike for the type." This type was struck 1853-58 at Potosi (shown here) and La Paz. An 1856/5 overdate is noted.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.50 g, 0.667 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-123.2.
