This specimen was lot 6362 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $402.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Hermosillo. 8 Reales, 1877-AF. Sharply struck. CHOICE BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." The Hermosillo mint struck eight reales 1861-95 and most of the dates from 1874 on are fairly common. The 1877-HoAF is common but the 1877-HoGR is rare.

Recorded mintage: 410,000 (all assayers).

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
