This specimen was lot 44320 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $55. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1/2 Decimo, 1873. Medellin Mint. Fair Detail--Mount Removed (PCGS). RARE. AB initials above date (for A Barre). Even wear on both sides, mount removal restricted to the reverse. Gray toned. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type, using a liberty head designed by French engraver Albert Barré, was minted at Medellin 1873-74. It is scarce, verging on rare. This head also appeared on Medellin mint 10 pesos of 1873-76 (KM 141.4) and five décimos of 1873-75 (KM 153.4).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 1.25 g, 0.835 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM-150.4; Restrepo-260.1.
