Heritage sale 3081, lot 30368
Cuba H3081-30368r.jpg

This specimen was lot 30368 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cuba, Republic gold Proof "Revolution Anniversary" 100 Pesos 1989 PR70 Ultra Cameo NGC. Struck for the 30th anniversary of the revolution. Pristine in its production and preservation, a dynamically engraved type. From the El Don Diego Luna Collection." The year 1989 saw the release of many self-congratulatory NCLT's by the regime along with such essentially Cuban topics as the fall of the Bastille and the first Spanish railway. Greeted by disinterest from the world at large, many are now rare.

Recorded mintage: 250 proofs.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 1.000 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 448, Fr-39.
