This specimen was lot 1211 in Sincona sale 22 (Zurich, May 2015), where it sold for 270 CHF (about US$339 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Herzogtum, Georg Ludwig (Georg I.), 1698-1727 Taler 1713. Zellerfeld. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, George Louis, 1698-1727, thaler of 1713, Zellerfeld mint, very fine or better.)"
This type was issued 1712-15. Wild man thalers were issued from this locality as late as 1760. George Ludwig was promoted to king of England on the death of his cousin Anne Stuart in 1714. This is the period when the electorate ceased to be known as Brunswick-Luneburg and called Hannover instead.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 28.97 g.
